Holistic Think Tank (HTT) is a non–governmental organization that promotes a modern approach to education, anchored in humanistic values, putting the student and his needs at the center of the educational process.

At HTT, we are convinced that acquiring knowledge in individual subjects is only a tool for the holistic development of a person as a committed, responsible, and, above all, happy individual.

We believe that the only way to achieve this goal is through education, conducted in an interdisciplinary approach and combined with the development of social competencies such as communication, adaptability, and cooperation.

We are also convinced that the role of the school is to create favorable conditions for students‘ development, to equip them with competencies that meet the needs of the modern world, and above all to shape attitudes that enable students to live a conscious and fulfilled life in society.

IDS is a self-authored pedagogical concept that aims to change the way primary schools worldwide teach by introducing a holistic approach that shapes and reinforces humanistic values in students in the course of conducting subject lessons.

These values have been identified and described by HTT researchers based on international phenomenographic studies (2021-2022) in the form of the What School Ought to Teach (WSOT).

Thanks to IDS, math, history, or chemistry will be taught in the same coherent way to prepare young people for life in a changing world, teach them cooperation and critical thinking, and above all – give them the tools to find happiness and fulfillment in their adult lives.

The implementation of the Interdisciplinary School Subject in schools will contribute to a change in the role of the school, which – from a place of reproductive transmission of knowledge in the form of administration (based on a hierarchical teacher-student relationship), will become an environment promoting the individual development of each student, where they acquire knowledge and skills in an atmosphere of cooperation, trust, and respect for others.

We invite you to develop a series of 10 subject lessons (e.g., a thematic block within a history, math, or chemistry lesson) relating to selected values from the What Schools Ought to Teach list.

After receiving information about the approval of your concept, you will receive an IDS lesson scenario template by email. Please fill it out and attach additional worksheets or other educational materials used during the lesson. Send the prepared scenarios to: ids@holisticthinktank.com

Conduct the planned lessons. Evaluate the course of work with students in the spirit of the IDS approach.

Share your observations and recommendations with us in the form of a report.

Remember to think creatively and use your experience. Make classes an opportunity for you and your students to build mutual relationships based on the WSOT list of values as well as a cooperative and inclusive learning environment.

1. Participation in a series of webinars and training on teaching didactics under the Interdisciplinary School Subject methodology.

2. Payment of $1,500 for the preparation of a series of 10 object lessons (including a methodological “toolbox”).

3. With the most active and innovative teachers, we anticipate establishing long-term cooperation involving, among other things, an invitation to participate in international workshops and conferences organized by HTT in Poland and abroad.
